Root Beer Sampler

I always have the hardest time coming up with fun gifts for my husband. He doesn't "need" anything, he usually just buys what he wants, so when it comes to gifts, I usually try to go homemade if I can. I saw this idea a while ago on Homemade By Jill, she credited it to two other blogs. It was perfect! Not completely homemade, but different. He loves his soda. And root beer is a favorite.
I purchaed 6 different types of root beer. 2 at Walmart, 2 at the Whole Foods Market, and 2 at Kroger's. I anticipated doing 8-12 different types, but at $3.50-$5.00/pack, that would have been too expensive for what I was going for. I wish you could just buy 1 bottle of each kind! But it's ok, I don't care for soda much except for rootbeer, so the extras will go in the mini fridge downstairs. I may even make another pack like this to give to my dad or brothers this year when we go out west in December. Who knows, but it won't go to waste :)
I made a card that labeled each kind in order of where it was placed in the crate and gave a brief description of each brand. I found the small CD crate at Joanns.
I think it turned out great and it was a lot of fun shopping for the bottles. Aaron helped me keep an eye out for bottled root beer in the stores, except he kept finding brown bottles with other bevereges in them...not what we were looking for. I wish there were as many varieties of root beer as there were of the other bottled brown stuff!

That's a great idea! My husband loves root beer too. lol. His favorite is Henry Weinhards root beer. He says it's by far one of the best he's ever tasted. Just in case your husband runs out of the samplers.

That's perfect for my husband. He loves root beer. Isn't it funny how many of us are saying the exact same thing. It must just really be a guy thing. I'm excited to put one more thing on his Christmas list that isn't over 200 dollars--that's probably also a guy thing.

That's really cute! I was thinking about doing this with beer for my dad and husband this year. I know some liquor stores sell individual bottles so that would work perfectly!

I saw this idea a while back and I love it! Thank you! We have an awesome pop store nearby with hundreds of sodas. I'm making one for all the men in my life!

I did the same thing for my husband this year except I bought all of my soda from old52.com I know I had to pay for shipping but it was so worth getting a variety of different "vintage" sodas. I'm from wyoming and there aren't any whole foods type stores around here. LOL i wish there were!!

But I love the idea of the cd crate! Just wish we had a hobby lobby or michaels closer than 45 miles away.

My husband is a root beer fan too! His favorite is our local brew, Fitz's, then Virgil's, Maine root beer, Bulldog and Vintage from Trader Joe's. The middle three can be purchased at Whole Foods or World Market.
